How 3DTUNNERS works

The workflow is deliberately simple: choose a base car, make one change at a time, and use the live viewport to understand how those choices work together.

  1. 01
    Step 01

    Choose a car

Browse the garage and select one of the performance vehicles currently available. Each car opens as an interactive model, but the level of model-specific detail and the compatible visual options can differ while support is being refined.

  2. 02
    Step 02

    Customise the build

Work through the available paint, wheel, suspension, aero, exhaust, lighting and environment controls. Changes are applied as you make them, so you can test a restrained road-car setup and a more dramatic concept without starting over.

  3. 03
    Step 03

    Inspect it from every angle

Rotate and zoom around the vehicle while the material and geometry updates remain visible. Change the environment to check how reflections, colour and surface finish respond in a bright showroom, a darker workshop or an outdoor scene.

  4. 04
    Step 04

    Refine your setup

Compare combinations, reset the configuration when an idea is not working, and keep adjusting until the visual direction feels coherent. You can move between categories as often as needed while the current studio session remains open.

What the viewport is showing

Rendering choices you can actually compare

Physically Based Rendering

Paint is treated as a material, not a flat colour swatch. Metallic and non-metallic finishes use different metalness, roughness and clearcoat settings, while reflections help describe gloss, carbon-fibre and metal surfaces. The same finish can look brighter, darker or more reflective as the lighting changes, so comparing environments is an important part of judging a colour.

Instant Real-Time Updates

Supported paint, wheel, suspension, aero, exhaust and lighting changes appear in the viewport without reloading the page. That makes it practical to compare combinations and undo an idea quickly. Initial model loading can still take longer on complex vehicles or less powerful devices, and the experience works best in an up-to-date browser with hardware-accelerated WebGL.

Cinematic Environments

A showroom, night scene or outdoor setting does more than change the backdrop: it changes the reflections across the body and can alter how a paint colour is perceived. Switching scenes helps reveal highlights, roughness and contrast that one light setup may hide. These environments are creative visualisation tools, not exact simulations of real roads, weather or calibrated studio lighting.

Frequently asked questions

Useful answers, without the sales pitch

What the current build can do, what it cannot verify, and what to expect while the project continues to develop.

What is 3DTUNNERS?

3DTUNNERS is a browser-based vehicle visualisation project built with Next.js, Three.js and WebGL. It lets you choose a supported performance car and explore combinations of paint, wheels, stance, aero, exhaust and lighting in an interactive viewport. The project is intended for creative experimentation and early visual planning rather than measurements, mechanical design or engineering approval.

Is the configurator free to use?

Yes. The current garage and Build Studio can be opened without a paid subscription or a software download. The project is still being developed, so the available vehicles, options and interface may change as models are improved. Running the configurator does require a modern browser and a device capable of displaying hardware-accelerated WebGL graphics.

Which cars are currently supported?

The live garage is the most accurate list of vehicles currently available. It includes a growing mix of Japanese, German, Italian, British and American performance cars. Model quality and customisation coverage are not identical across the catalogue: some vehicles support more detailed materials or geometry changes than others, and an option may be adjusted or removed while a model is updated.

Can I adjust ride height, camber and wheel offset?

The Build Studio currently includes suspension type, visual ride-height and camber controls. Their visible range and behaviour can vary with the selected car. A dedicated numerical wheel-offset control is being developed and is not currently available. None of these visual controls calculate full suspension geometry, tyre deformation or safe real-world clearance.

Are the modifications guaranteed to fit a real car?

No. The configurator helps you explore appearance and combinations, but it does not verify bolt patterns, load ratings, brake clearance, tyre clearance, suspension travel or road legality. Before buying or installing parts, check the vehicle and component specifications and speak with a qualified wheel, tyre, suspension or body-work professional.

Why can a 3D car take time to load?

A vehicle can include detailed geometry, materials and textures that must be downloaded and prepared by the browser before the scene is ready. Load time depends on the model, connection, device memory and graphics hardware. 3DTUNNERS delays non-essential work where practical, but complex models may still take longer on phones, older computers or busy connections.

Which browsers and devices are supported?

The project is designed for current versions of major browsers that support WebGL and hardware acceleration. Desktop and laptop computers generally provide the most comfortable controls and the most consistent performance. Modern tablets and phones can run the experience, although scene complexity, available memory, thermal limits and browser settings may affect loading speed and frame rate.

Can I save or share my build?

Persistent saved builds, user accounts, public share links, image export and cross-device synchronisation are not currently available. The Build Studio is intended for exploring a configuration during the current browser session.

Are 3DTUNNERS models connected to vehicle manufacturers?

3DTUNNERS is an independent project and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by vehicle manufacturers unless a relationship is explicitly stated. Manufacturer names and trademarks are used to identify the vehicles being visualised and remain the property of their respective owners. Digital models and colour previews may differ from production vehicles.

How are new cars and parts selected?

New additions are chosen by balancing enthusiast interest with the time and source material needed to prepare a usable web model. A car must be tested for loading, materials, camera framing and supported customisation before it is ready. Suggestions sent through the contact page are useful, but there is no fixed release schedule or guarantee that a requested vehicle will be added.
